The Lord’s Prayer

Found in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:1-4
New International Version
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

The Lord’s prayer starts v9 with worshiping our Creator.

v10 next His will be done – as created sovereign beings God has given us freedom of will and choice but asks us to trust him and put him first that he knows what is best in each situation. If God is LOVE, JOY and PEACE, if we follow his leading and guidance he will show us a better way coming under HIS SOVEREIGNTY

v11 asking and trusting God to meet our daily needs

v12 we can wipe the slate clean when we blow it by asking God’s forgiveness. God promises to forgive us if we forgive others

v13 God promises to give us strength and protection if we ask him
